Family Dashboard

Family Dashboard is a shared dashboard for one household: one screen for the calendar everyone is on, what’s for dinner, the grocery list, the chores and what the week’s shopping has cost.

It is built to sit on a kitchen tablet and to work on everyone’s phone, and each person in the home signs in with their own account and sees the same lists.

What it does

  • Calendar.Merges the household’s calendars into one view, so school, work and personal schedules are visible together.
  • Meals.Plan the week’s dinners, keep the recipes you actually cook, and get ideas sized for the number of people you feed.
  • Groceries. What’s in the pantry and what needs buying, with a shared grocery list that updates as you plan meals.
  • Chores. Optional per-person lists with a weekly board.
  • Budget.Scan a receipt and it counts toward the week’s grocery total.

How it uses Google Calendar

Connecting a Google account is optional and the app is fully usable without it. It is never part of signing in: signing in asks only for your name and email address.

  • Calendars you pick in Settings are read, so their events appear in the household’s merged calendar view.
  • Exactly one calendar — the one you nominate as the write target — can have events added to it from the dashboard. Every other linked calendar stays read-only, no matter what.
  • Someone outside the household can share their calendar through a link. They are asked for read access only, they never get an account, and they cannot see anything of yours.
  • You can disconnect at any time in Settings, which revokes the app’s access at Google.
